Several Henry Countians received degrees from the University of Tennessee at Martin during the spring commencement ceremony held May 6 at the Tom and Kathleen Elam Center on the UT Martin campus.
A total of 16 graduates from Henry County received either a bachelor’s or master’s degree in various fields of study.
Graduates receiving a bachelor’s degree include: James C. Counce, Jessica Craig, Deidre Leann Freeman, Miranda Dianne Greer, Darcy Jean Hulon, Brenda Jaime, Peyton Wayne Lancaster, Matthew H. Meketi;
Taylor Laine Murray-Mayoza, Amy J. Neumair, Bradley Andrew Owens, Hannah Leigh Peppers, Jarred Michael Presson, Najee O. Ray and Hannah Williams Robison, all of Paris.
Owens also was inducted into the Order of Engineers during a ceremony just before the commencement ceremony that day.
The induction ceremony is a way for graduating engineering students to show pride in their new profession and unity with other engineers.
Participating students recite a pledge to uphold honor, workmanship and ethics in the engineering field.
Owens was inducted by Dr. Richard Helgeson, dean of the College of Engineering and Natural Sciences, and Dr. Robert LeMaster, professor and chairman of the Department of Engineering.
